The Seven Traits of Writing


Good Copy Reminders!

Please check before handing in:
  • Each week students choose a topic from their writing territories section and will take it through an editing process.
  • Hold a Peer Conference, and show me the conference sheets.
  • Set up a teacher conference. She/he will view parts or all of your writing and use proofreading marks to guide the writer to improve their piece. You will go through the self-evaluation guide before printing good copy.
  • Good quality printer paper is used. You have typed in size 12 font. Times New Roman font. Double spaced.
  • If handwritten it is always written, not printed and done in pen! NO PENCIL!!
  • Cover page: typically a piece of unlined white paper with title, author's name, an illustration, and an information box  at the bottom right hand corner. (submitted to and from plus the date it is due)
  • All instructions for the piece of writing must follow writing conventions. Refer to all handouts.

  • Pages must be numbered and your name must appear in the header.

  • All graphic organizers and written pieces must have your name and grade on them.

  • Must be checked over using the following checklist.

  • You will be marked according to the following rubric.
